Life is just hard sometimes. At times, you may feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, and alone. But...you don’t have to do this by yourself. We consider it an honor and a privilege to walk with you towards emotional and mental healing, so that you can be the best version of you, and your joy can be restored.
Life brings us ups and downs. Sometimes, those “downs” hang around longer than we want them too. It is in those moments of life that we can feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, and alone. We specialize in helping people recover from trauma/ PTSD, addiction, depression, anxiety, and marital issues.
We offer Pre-Marital and Marital Counseling to all couples wishing to improve, enhance, or repair their relationship.
We also offer PACT therapy:
Families can benefit from therapy when they experience any stressful event that may strain family relationships, such as financial hardship, divorce, or the death of a loved one. In addition, it can be effective in treating mental health concerns that impact the family as a whole, such as depression, substance abuse, chronic illness, and food issues, or everyday concerns, like communication issues, interpersonal conflict, or behavioral problems in children and adolescents.
Many, many people struggle with chronic depression, chronic anxiety, and a myriad of other symptoms that stem from unresolved trauma. The trauma doesn’t have to be very significant in order for it to interrupt day-to-day functioning. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy helps dislodge the emotions tied to the trauma. The client can then appropriately process the trauma and file it away into memories, which can be recalled when desired without excessive emotion.
Using traditional therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can achieve the same result, but often takes much longer and many more counseling sessions.
During an EMDR session, the client focuses on one aspect of the traumatic event and with the help of the counselor, activates different parts of his brain to make connections between the strong emotion of the trauma and other experiences or knowledge. There is no hypnosis or trances involved. The client is always in control of the process.
Drug and alcohol addiction therapy should increase your ability to cope with negative emotions, thoughts, and circumstances in healthy ways without the use of drugs or alcohol. Even after you complete a medical detox program, you may still have cravings that pull you back toward substance use and relapse. Long after your body has been purged of your last dose, your brain will still seek the rewarding response from drugs or alcohol. Drug and alcohol addiction therapy options will seek to give you the tools you need to cope with cravings and stressors or address underlying issues that contribute to or worsen addiction.
We offer experiential groups including Anger Management and Psychodrama. Experiential therapy helps clients tap into underlying issues – such as unconscious conflicts, unresolved trauma, repressed emotions, poor problem solving skills, or maladaptive relationship patterns – that they may find difficult to identify and explore via traditional talk therapy alone. The experience itself gives clients an opportunity to improve their problem solving skills and practice new behaviors in a therapeutic environment.
Experiential therapy helps clients develop a greater sense of self awareness. It allows them to get in touch with their deepest needs, desires, motives, and emotions – both good and bad. Negative emotions that have been buried for a long time are destructive. Once identified, they can be processed in a healthy manner that facilitates healing.
ETT, a therapeutic method incorporating the use of light, color wavelengths, and eye movements, aims to rapidly transform emotional distress and related physical pain into a positive emotional state. Professionals trained in ETT work to help those in therapy address trauma and other pain and achieve lasting, healing change.
This modality is used in individual therapy sessions to quickly alleviate symptoms associated with depression and anxiety, decrease PTSD symptoms, as well as manage symptoms of withdrawal from alcohol and/or drugs.
Play therapy is a unique journey that parent(s)/guardian(s), child, and a trained play therapist take together. Through the use of toys, children communicate to us in their natural language, play. The play therapist enters the world of the child by being with them, hearing them, seeking to understand them and caring for them. Through the process of playing, children are able to accept themselves and their worlds, process difficult things that may be challenging them, develop self-control and coping skills, accept limits and develop positive relationships. Consultation with the parent(s)/guardian(s) provides the therapist the opportunity to understand the child and his/her play more fully and to provide support and suggestions for how to help guide the child.
I knew from a young age that there was a tug on my heart to help others, but I had no idea that that "little tug" would eventually mean taking "huge leap" of faith. Joyful Restoration Counseling was "born" after God awakened my soul and restored my inner joy following a long season of spiritual drought in my life. Shortly afterwards, God gave me two instructions: "Go Big" and "Go Bold". I didn't understand them at first, but over the next few weeks, it became very clear the direction in which I was to take my next adventure. And, it was a few weeks and countless hours of work after that revelation that this facility officially opened its doors on Oct. 3, 2019. I believe God has big plans for the flood of people He intends to bring to our facility: plans for emotional healing, plans for hope, plans for a future, and plans for freedom from any bondage of addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. over lives.
Walking alongside someone as they move towards their healing journey is one the most humbling and honoring positions to embrace. I enjoy using a variety of methods to enhance a client's counseling experience including ETT, psychodrama, anger management, and PACT. Sprinkling some prayer, scripture, and spiritual experiences into the mix I believe further deepens the healing experience. I am passionate about healing the underlying trauma that drives the core of shame and self destructive behaviors and helping people find their joy in the journey.
I am a true native to Texas and have been married for 28 years to a man I have known since the third grade. I have two sons, a daughter and son-in-law, and a big yellow lab named Sadie
The connection between the therapist and client is the backbone of my practice. I love the uniqueness of each person’s personality and experience. I enjoy seeing God’s work in each of our lives, weaving His love and healing through our difficulty, trauma, and illness. I practice EMDR therapy, which is especially effective in dealing with trauma and chronic depression and anxiety. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Scripture to help my clients discern truth from the confusion and chaos life throws at us. When appropriate, I use art therapy to compliment the other two.
I specialize in working with adults and teens, and I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare insurances.
Married 28 years, I have three sons and a daughter-in-law. My journey to counseling includes teaching junior high and high school English and art for 20 years, working in women’s and youth ministry, being a football coach’s wife, and living half the time in West Texas near Midland and the other half in the DFW area of the state of Texas.
God has given me a unique passion and gift for working with children. I delight in spending time with children, learning with them, laughing with them, and yes, even crying with them. Children have a unique perspective of the world and each one is a gift with his/her own set of strengths, weaknesses, and God-given purpose. Through the process of play therapy, I am given the opportunity to enter the world of the children and their system supports, love them, and point them to Jesus, our almighty counselor, savior, and healer.
I have been incredibly blessed to be married to my best friend for twenty-two years and we have two unique, gifted, loving boys of our own, along with a lazy cat. My journey to get to this point has included working in a daycare and twenty years of service in the Texas public education system, serving eleven years as a Kindergarten teacher, two years as a third grade teacher, one year as a first grade teacher and six years as a school counselor. I also have the privilege of raising a child diagnosed with ADHD. I am grateful for each experience that has brought me to this place and excited about the journeys that lie ahead.
I grew up in a ministry family as a pastor's kid and previously served as a law enforcement officer and in the military. While serving as a patrol deputy I experienced life and death situations—seeing both the best and worst of the human condition. As I progressed in my career, I noticed that most of the situations I responded to could have been prevented through alternative means such as therapy. This included both the problems within the different homes and the aftereffects of experiencing traumatic events. I felt called by God to specifically work with individuals and families that have experienced traumatic life events and ongoing relational issues. My experience as a former law enforcement officer and in the army gives me a unique advantage of being able to help first responders, military personnel, and their families during difficult times from a place of understanding. My upbringing as a pastor's kid and background in ministry also give me a unique perspective to assist ministry families. I am married with two young children and we are members of a local church. I look forward to working and walking alongside you during this process and assisting you in achieving your goals.
While I am waiting on my LPC Intern license and am unable to accept insurance, I am seeing clients at a significantly reduced rate.
